HAVAREESE HAVANESE

Havanese are native from Cuba. It is believed that all Havanese today are related to 11 dogs which fled from Cuba to the US during the Cuban Revolution.  They are descended of the Bichon family of dogs, cross-bred with Poodles.  They are sturdy little dogs with signature curved tails.  They are cheerful, happy and very smart little dogs. Havanese adore their family and are always near.  They are are often affectionally called "velcro dogs." They love showing and receiving attention, always eager to please. They are great with children and all ages, very attentive and responsive. They will alert you and are protective in nature.   

Havanese have double coats which are soft, lightweight, and silky. Coats can be wavy, curly or straight. Similar to Poodles, they do not shed and considered hypoallergenic. They do require regular brushing and grooming to maintain their gorgeous coats. Their coats can be kept long or short. Havanese come in many colors, patterns and variations, such as black, tan, cream, white, chocolates, reds, partis and more. A true chocolate will have brown/liver pigment on their nose and paw pads. Havanese are known to lighten and change over the years. 

Havanese are low maintenance, typically love to go on walks and will play all day. They are happiest when playing with their owner. They do very well in any style of home. They are very social and do not like to be left home alone for long periods of time. They love to be outside with you but should never be kept outside. They are not outdoors dog!
